Hybrid engine failure. Jeep vehicle is unsafe to drive as the electric engine doesn’t work due to overheating and charging error codes, which causes power to jump between electric and gas engine spontaneously causing speed control to be unpredictable and unsafe. There is also the question that there is a serious defect with the battery and unsafe to park this vehicle in a garage attached to a dwelling unit.

Summary of defect: The vehicle intermittently shifts into PARK while in motion or stopped in traffic, accompanied by a recurring "Service Stop/Start System" warning. This results in a sudden loss of drive power and creates a serious risk of a rear-end collision or crash. History: Shortly after purchase in March 2025, the vehicle began showing random dashboard warnings and infotainment/connectivity failures, which occurred daily. Approximately eight months after purchase, the "Service Stop/Start System" warning began recurring. In several instances this was accompanied by the transmission shifting into PARK while the vehicle was stopped at a red light. Within a few weeks, my wife was driving with our young children in the vehicle when it shifted into PARK in traffic, and she was nearly struck by another vehicle. The problem occurred several more times. Ain September 2026, I took the vehicle to Thomas Jeep [city, state] for repair. The dealership stated the issue was a software problem and returned the vehicle after 2–3 days. I paid for a rental vehicle out of pocket during that time. The Stop/Start warning returned immediately after I picked up the vehicle. A few weeks later, the vehicle again shifted into PARK, this time while driving, which was more severe than prior incidents. Current status: The defect has not been resolved. I transport my young children in this vehicle, including to daycare, and I consider it unsafe to drive. Request: I request that NHTSA open an investigation into this defect, review similar complaints for this make and model, and determine whether a recall is warranted.

Awaiting motor mounts. Causative water pump replacement. Loose feeling and creaking sound when operating the vehicle. Hard knocking sound when shifting gears to drive or reverse. I thought most of all of the sounds were normal because it is a Jeep. This has been for more than I realized.

My sun roof glass blew up while traveling on XXX in [XXX]. It sounded like a gunshot. I thought I blew a tire. Upon pulling over on the shoulder I discovered my Sun Roof had exploded. No other cars were on the road and I had not run over anything. [Incident Description & System Failure] On XXX, at approximately 30,340 miles, hybrid propulsion and charging system completely failed while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle suffered a sudden "Loss of Motive Power" and stalled completely on a public road. The vehicle was towed immediately and is currently inspection upon request. [Safety Risks Experienced] The vehicle suffered a catastrophic power failure and stalled suddenly in the middle of a public road. This created an immediate hazard for a severe rear-end collision. Furthermore, according to the manufacturer's official Safety Recall 68C (NHTSA 25V-741), this specific battery pack poses an unmitigated vehicle fire risk, threatened by both traffic hazards and potential thermal runaway. [Dealer Confirmation & Inspection Status] The defect has been officially reproduced, confirmed, and documented by an authorized dealer. Following the sudden stall, the vehicle was towed to McPeeks CDJR of [XXX] on XXX (Repair Order #XXX). The service advisor and technicians confirmed the failure, noting the active check engine light and red battery light. The vehicle is currently under inspection and storage at the dealership, as the manufacturer's technicians have been unable to remedy this recurring. [Prior Warning Lamps, Messages & Symptoms] At the same time the engine stalled on XXX, the dashboard illuminated a red battery warning light and a check engine light, by a system message: "Service Charging System. The vehicle had a long history of chronic hybrid system symptoms and was previously brought to the dealer for multiple official safety recalls regarding the high-voltage battery (95B in Dec 2024, 73C in XXX, and 68C in XXX). The manufacturer issued a Warranty Extension Letter (Program XU1) for this defective battery pack. Despite all prior software flashes and recall "remedies" performed by the dealer, the system completely failed, proving the defect is incurable. This recall notice (26V-562) is the third time that Jeep has provided such a notice for precisely the same problem. On two previous occasions (24V-413 and 26V-051), the car was returned to the dealer and work was performed. Although Jeep appears to be following the guidelines for discovery and communication of a safety defect, the conclusion here is that the subject defect occurred in the design phase or in the assembly process at the factory, and, despite two recalls and the passage of at least four years, the problem has not been resolved on a reasonably timely basis. The traveling public remains at risk.

Our 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe began making popping noises around the front wheel area while driving at approximately 45,000 miles. We paid a Jeep dealership to diagnose the problem. The dealership told us the control-arm bushings were worn and that the entire control-arm assembly needed replacement, with an estimated repair cost of approximately $5,500. We are concerned that a suspension component has failed prematurely at this mileage. The popping noises and diagnosed wear make us concerned about the vehicle’s safety. The dealership stated that the bumper-to-bumper warranty had expired and that the repair was not covered by the powertrain warranty. After the dealership’s diagnostic visit, a sway bar warning light also began appearing. We do not know whether this warning is related to the original problem, but it adds to our safety concerns. We subsequently took the vehicle to an independent licensed mechanic. According to that mechanic, Jeep informed him that the required parts were on backorder, creating an additional obstacle to completing the repair. While researching the symptoms, we found reports from other owners describing similar problems, along with potentially relevant service bulletins. We are providing those references for NHTSA’s review. We understand that these reports and the parts backorder do not, by themselves, establish a widespread defect. We cannot currently afford the quoted repair and are concerned about continuing to drive the vehicle. We request that NHTSA review this complaint for a possible safety-related suspension or sway bar defect and determine whether further investigation is warranted. I am reporting a critical structural suspension failure and dealer safety negligence on my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (30,000 miles, clean title). Sequence of Events & Safety Hazards: 1. July 7 & July 13, 2026: I brought the vehicle to the authorized Jeep dealership Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy because a rear splash shield was hanging. The technician zip-tied it first, then completely removed the shield on July 13, claiming it was "unimportant," without diagnosing why it fell. 2. October 3, 2026: I received an official FCA recall notice regarding rear suspension safety. 3. October 5, 7, and 9, 2026: I contacted FCA Customer Care 3 separate times to report the suspension defect and safety concerns. 4. October 7, 2026 Inspection: I brought the car to the dealership for inspection per FCA guidance. The dealership diagnosed a broken right rear suspension bracket at the exact spot where the shield was removed. 5. Dealer Negligence: Despite diagnosing a snapped structural suspension bracket, the dealership repeatedly instructed me (3 to 4 times) to drive the vehicle back home with my young child inside. They only agreed to hold the vehicle after I firmly refused to drive such a hazardous car. Safety Concern: A structural suspension bracket snapping under normal road use at only 30,000 miles represents a severe manufacturing defect and safety risk that could lead to loss of vehicle control. Furthermore, the dealership's refusal to hold the vehicle initially demonstrates extreme disregard for child and road safety.

While traveling north at about 45-50 mph I struck a vehicle crossing the highway broadside as that vehicle crossed from west to east with the front of my Jeep. The vehicle struck had all air bags deployed and none of the air bags in my Jeep deployed. No injuries and I had on my seatbelt. My vehicle has been designated as totaled by State Farm insurance.
