The steering wheel intermittently sticks, binds, or locks up while driving down a straight road or curves on the freeway, going 65-75mph down highway 5 as well on highway 17. It made it very difficult to maintain a straight path. No dashboard warning lights, error codes, or chimes appear when the failure occurs. It feels like you are fighting with the steering wheel because it forcefully pulls right but when trying to correct it by moving left, it continues trying to go left. I have to move it back to the right to avoid hitting cars or walls and it takes a lot of effort to maintain a steady, straight path. This happens intermittently whether the lane assist is turned on or off. The vehicle was taken to dealership but they were unable to duplicate the issue and no repairs were performed, leaving the issue unresolved.

I lease a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. Since XXX, the vehicle jerks and surges unexpectedly while driving. It happens almost daily, at speeds from 10mph to 30mph, during acceleration. The jerking is abrupt and hard to predict. It affects my control of the vehicle in traffic and when merging, and I am concerned it could cause a rear-end collision. I have taken the vehicle to Salerno Duane Jeep 6 times for this problem: XXX. Each time the dealer recorded "cannot replicate". Repair orders show the vehicle was driven as little as 1 mile during some visits, and one order states a 10-mile road test while the odometer shows 1 mile. The most recent visit began XXX. After 9 days and 20 test miles, the dealer again reported it could not replicate the problem. I have requested they keep the vehicle until it can be replicated. I have recorded multiple videos of the jerking as it happens and gave them to the dealer. During the service on XXX, the vehicle also set fault code P0BBE-00 (hybrid battery pack voltage variation) and required a hybrid battery replacement, with a 5-week wait for parts. The jerking lessened after the repair but has since gotten continually worse. No repair has been made for the jerking. I am asking the NHTSA to review this complaint for a possible safety defect in the 4xe powertrain or hybrid system. While driving on the freeway - the cars hybrid system shut off altogether and wouldn’t go above 60mph. This was during maneuvers in traffic that cause severe concern for passengers in the car including my [XXX] daughter and wife, along with other nearby drivers. I am reporting repeated, sudden losses of motive power at highway speeds in my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (PHEV). The vehicle's propulsion, electrical, and engine systems completely shut down without warning, causing the car to randomly stop while cruising at 60 mph on the highway, creating an immediate and severe crash risk. Despite the authorized dealership (David Auto of Glen Mills, PA) claiming that all outstanding safety recalls regarding drive power loss were resolved, the defect has actually worsened. This critical failure has occurred on at least three separate occasions recently: Late September 2026: Initial sudden power loss while cruising at 60 mph on the highway. [XXX]: Second instance of sudden power failure at 60 mph on the highway. [XXX]: Third instance of complete power loss at 60 mph on the highway. The vehicle was carrying four occupants at the time, significantly compounding the severe safety hazard. The manufacturer and authorized dealerships have failed to permanently rectify this dangerous defect, and the authorized recall remedies, stated complete, clearly have not or did not fulfill the obligations of safety and what was notified and communicated to me by Stelantis FCA (JEEP). As you may know, the ongoing, unresolved hazard is currently the subject of an active breach of warranty lawsuits and actively litigated. The vehicle is unsafe to operate on on highways due to these unpredictable hybrid powertrain shutdowns randomly at highway speeds, capping mph at 60 even if you are going 70+, and flooring the car in a passing lane or attempting to avoid other cars. It needs further investigation, and is a known issue apart of the hybrid systems failure and subsequent recalls yet no resolutions. ADDITIONALLY NO warning lights came on when this occurred. My jeep had locked me out with my [XXX] in the car. The keys were on the seat and the doors had locked with my baby in the car seat. I tried using the jeep app to unlock the doors and was unsuccessful. So I then called the jeep connect assistance phone number and they were unable to unlock the doors as well. Vehicle experienced a sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds without warning. The vehicle lost total propulsion at 60mph with zero dashboard error text or warning lights. Driver pressed fully on gas pedal to avoid activating the regenerative braking system. Driver pumped gas pedal but no response from vehicle. Vehicle began to lose speed while operating on an Interstate Freeway in the dark (between 6a - 7a). Driver began shifting into Neutral and back to Drive which only restored power for one second before cutting out again. There are no text errors or engine indicating warnings or alerts. Vehicle stalled and driver put on hazards and slowly made way to the shoulder and nearest exit ramp which was ~2 mile from event start to exit ramp. Event happened September 18, 2026. Another identical event on the same stretch of Interstate reoccurred on October 2, 2026 which prompted owner to take to the dealership for diagnostic. Jeep dealership was unable to diagnose or duplicate the issue.

I own a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has experienced a recurring safety issue involving unexpected deceleration and loss of acceleration while driving. The vehicle unexpectedly slows down and will not accelerate beyond approximately 60 mph, creating a potentially dangerous situation, particularly on highways when merging, passing, or keeping up with traffic. The vehicle has also displayed a “Service 4WD System” warning. The dealership diagnosed diagnostic trouble code C1463, “Front Axle Disconnect Control – Unexpected Operation,” and recommended replacing the front axle disconnect actuator/motor. The estimated repair cost was approximately $1,054. The dealership subsequently replaced the part, but the same problem occurred again afterward. This indicates that replacing the recommended component did not resolve the underlying issue. During these incidents, the vehicle’s ability to accelerate is severely limited, and turning the vehicle off and restarting it has sometimes restored normal operation. The recurrence of this issue despite the repair raises serious concerns about the vehicle’s reliability and safety. I am concerned that this defect could cause a crash or place the driver and other motorists at risk, especially when the vehicle unexpectedly loses speed in highway traffic. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this recurring loss-of-power and unexpected-deceleration issue in the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and determine whether other vehicles are experiencing the same problem.

The car has died 5 times in the past two years. It was bought brand new off the lot. Dealership says it is always an electrical/battery issue and then the car dies again. The car gets towed to the dealership each time and full inspections done. The car has been unusable for 20+ days out of 2 years.

Full body electrical was replaced. System completely failed 2nd time leaving me stranded at work. First time it failed was at the car was Tiger Express Mt [XXX]. The vehicle eventually came back up after 8hrs of being stranded at the car wash for 2 days later the vehicle wouldn't start at all 11pm at CIC Wellsfargo campus on [XXX]. Statement of Complaint: I am writing to file an official consumer protection complaint regarding a 2024 Jeep Cherokee 4xe that I recently leased. Throughout the duration of my lease possession, the vehicle suffered from persistent safety defects and unresolved manufacturer recalls that severely impacted its safety, reliability, and drivability. Despite multiple attempts to address these critical factory defects, the vehicle remained unreliable. On October 3, 2026, the vehicle was repossessed. I contend that the manufacturer and financing institution failed to provide a safe, merchantable vehicle as agreed upon in the lease contract, and that the financial loss and subsequent repossession stem directly from the vehicle’s manufacturing failures. Requested Resolution: I am requesting that the Attorney General's office investigate the consumer practices surrounding this lease. I am seeking a fair partial refund of the lease payments made while operating a known defective vehicle, as well as an equitable mediation of any outstanding post-repossession balance claims being made by the lender.
