Barcode: [XXX] Tracking #: [XXX] Processing Timestamp: [XXX] Fraudulent, defective items were introduced into shipping network at the FedEx facility in Arlington, Texas, establishing a direct physical origin point for the illicit supply chain investigation. Seller caused a printed a label pretending the parts were coming fresh from their own Ohio facility, but they had a third-party drop-shipper (or an unvetted liquidator) in Texas fulfill it using their account credentials. Seller is knowingly running a blind drop-shipping operation for safety-critical vehicle components without conducting any quality control, while actively deceiving the customer and the platform about where the inventory is physically located. Safety Risk and Defect: Deceptively altered, structurally failed, and mismatched safety-critical steering equipment introduced into interstate commerce. Amazon purchase made for a new, factory-sealed Synergy MFG Jeep JK Heavy Duty Adjustable Ball Joint Kit, Part Number 4127 (designated as Non-Knurled). The distributor, UTM Distributing Co. dba Purely Power Sports, caused to be shipped an open, unsealed damaged retail box where the authentic components had been removed. In their place, the distributor packaged used, damaged, and knurled upper ball joints. One substituted upper ball joints exhibits severe internal structural play and physical wobble straight out of the box. Amazon is processing a refund/instructed me to discard item. The ABS warning light remains illuminated and the vehicle is displaying diagnostic trouble code C2200, indicating an internal failure involving the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control module. I am concerned that this is a safety-related defect rather than normal wear. I have found multiple reports from other owners of 2017 Jeep Wranglers describing the same or substantially similar failure involving C2200, ABS module failure, and illumination of the ABS/traction-control warning lights. Owners have also reported difficulty obtaining replacement OEM ABS modules due to extended backorders or lack of availability. Because the ABS module is part of the vehicle’s braking and electronic stability-control system, I am concerned about operating the vehicle without these safety systems functioning properly. I am requesting that NHTSA review the pattern of ABS control-module failures involving 2017 Jeep Wranglers and determine whether further investigation or a safety recall is warranted.

The Jeep wrangler has a notoriously bad reputation with ABS Modules. Mine has been broken for over 2 years and I am unable to find a replacement part. I’ve ordered the part 4 times only to find that the item is back ordered. Almost every Jeep owner I know is driving without ABS due to the module breaking and no parts available. I think someone should take a serious look into why their units fail so commonly and no recall has been issued. It’s not a nicety to have brakes. It’s a major safety issue!!! Thank you.

The first time happening I was driving on the interstate going about 70 miles an hour in the dark, the car completely shut down with no warning I was able to coast then tried to restart the vehicle and it started. I was able to get off the road and to my destination. The second time this happened, it was 5am in the morning getting on the interstate going about 40 miles an hour I got to the end of the ramp and merged into traffic again no warning the car shut down. This time the vehicle would not restart. I was able to coast to the shoulder with traffic approaching on me. Had to wait for a tow in the dark by myself.

ABS system module has failed and the manufacturer has it on indefinite backorder. I read reports of some customer waiting over 400 days for this part. It compromises the effectiveness of the antilock braking system. How do they get away with this?

My ABS module is confirmed faulty resulting in an unsafe car to drive. The ABS module is extremely hard to come by, on an indefinite backorder, and I cannot get the part anywhere. Maybe people waiting over a year for the part. This is resulting in aftermarket or refurbished parts, which are risky and unsafe. I am out of a vehicle because I cannot get the part and no one wants to buy a faulty car.

During a routine maintenance visit, a pre-purchase/general inspection was performed on my 2017 Jeep Wrangler, which documented the front axle and differential housing as intact and in one piece. Subsequent to that inspection, while the vehicle was undergoing service, it was discovered that the front axle housing bracket on the driver’s side had fractured and separated from the frame mount. Upon inspection of the fractured surface, the break exhibits oxidation (rust) at the fracture point itself, indicating the crack had been forming and propagating over time rather than resulting from a single acute impact or event. This suggests a pre-existing metal fatigue or corrosion-related structural weakness in the front axle housing bracket assembly that was not visually detectable during a standard inspection prior to full separation. Given that this is a structural component connecting the front axle/differential to the vehicle frame, a full separation of this type could result in loss of vehicle control, particularly under steering or load stress, and poses a significant safety risk. The vehicle is approximately 9 years old with 90,000 miles, and this type of structural failure at this age/mileage is a concern for other owners of similar model year Wranglers. I am filing this report to make NHTSA aware of this failure mode in case it represents a broader pattern in 2017 (and potentially adjacent model year) Jeep Wranglers.

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while traveling at 60 MPH, the vehicle struck a deer. The airbags failed to deploy upon impact. No injuries were reported. No police report was filed. The vehicle remained operable and was driven to the residence. Two days later, the airbag warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was notified and confirmed there were no open recalls or active warranties for the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a report. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
