I WAS ON A WEEKEND TRIP. I STOPPED AT A WASHINGTON STATE WEIGHT STATION AND WEIGHED MY VIEW. MY REAR IS 7220 AND FRONT IS 3780 OR 11,000. THE GVR IS 11200. Fire Extinguisher May Be Clogged or Inoperable

Defect description

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Winnebago Era, Travato, Minnie Winnie, Fuse, View, Trend, Aspect, Brave, Vista, Sightseer, Adventurer, Forza, Journey, Tour, Revel, Paseo, Chalet, Access, and Intent motorhomes and Commercial vehicles, and 2013-2018 Itasca Spirit, Navion, Cambria, Tribute, Sunstar, Sunova, Suncruiser, Solei, Meridian, Elipse, Horizon, Reyo, and Via motorhomes. These vehicles are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Safety consequence

In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Manufacturer remedy

Winnebago will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for replacement or aftermarket fire extinguishers, free of charge. The recall began on January 19, 2018. Defect description

Winnebago Industries, Inc (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Winnebago View, VIA, ERA, and Itasca Navion motorhomes. The affected vehicles have an Axxess radio volume control module that may interfere with the chassis electrical system.

Safety consequence

The Axxess radio volume control module can affect electrical system functions, possibly causing an engine shutdown, power loss, illumination of malfunction indicator warning lights, and interfere with the restraint system. These scenarios can increase the risk of crash or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will remove the Axxess radio volume control module, free of charge. The recall began on May 23, 2017. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-800-537-1885.

Defect description

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Winnebago Era, Travato, View, Trend, Via, Journey, and Tour motorhomes and Itasca Navion, Viva, Reyo, Meridian, and Elipse motorhomes manufactured June 26, 2012, to August 26, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the high pressure liquid propane (LP) hose may harden and result in an LP leak at the crimp fitting.

Safety consequence

An LP leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the LP hose, free of charge. The recall began on November 25, 2015. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-3535.

Abutting Wedge Incorrectly Installed

Defect description

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain model year 2015 Winnebago ERA, View, and Itasca Navion vehicles manufactured September 11, 2014, to February 27, 2015 and built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis. In the affected vehicles, the abutting wedge, a component attached to the door jamb to make opening the door easier after a severe frontal impact, may have been installed incorrectly.

Safety consequence

If a vehicle that has an incorrectly installed abutting wedge is involved in a severe frontal accident, a greater force may be necessary to open the doors, increasing the risk of injury.

Manufacturer remedy

Mercedes-Benz notify owners, and their dealers will check the installation of the abutting wedge, correcting it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began in March 2015. Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz Sprinter customer service at 1-877-762-8267.

THIS IS A MOTOR HOME WITH A 31 GALLON WATER TANK, A 6 GALLON HW TANK, SEATING FOR 4. MANY STORAGE COMPARTMENTS,OVER 41 CUBIC FEET OF OUTSIDE STORAGE AND MAYBE THE SAME INSIDE WITH A GOOD SIZE REFER. I CAN CARRY MORE WEIGHT IN SPEC IN SMALL CARS THAN THE VIEW G??? MY CONCERN IS MY VIEW IS OVER WEIGHT. I WOULD EXPECT ALL VIEW G LIKE MINE ARE ALWAYS OVER WEIGHT. A FAMILY OF FOUR GOING ON A TRIP WILL ON AVERAGE BE WELL OVER 1000 LBS OVER WEIGHT. YES THERE IS A STICKER THAT SAYS 960 LBS. A PERSON WILL USE THE LARGE STORAGE TO PACK FOR A TRIP. FILL THE WATER TANKS, FOOD, CLOTHES, BEADING, AND STUFF. WINNEBAGO HAS BUILT A MOTOR HOME THAT WHILE VERY NICE, ITS BY NATURE UNSAFE. I WOULD EXPECT THAT ALL VIEWS G LIKE MINE ARE OVER WEIGHT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF THE MOST POPULAR MODEL, WINNEBAGO HAD TO KNOW THAT YOU CAN'T BUILD A MOTOR HOME THAT HAS LESS OCCC THAN MOST SMALL CARS. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS WINNEBAGO VIEW G CAB OVER BUNK.

AS FAR AS LOAD, I HAVE HWH LEVELERS AND A TRAVELER DISH. BOTH INSTALLED BY ROY ROBINSON RV MY SELLING DEALER. MY GEAR IS IN MY OPINION LIGHT WEIGHT. I HAVE A 25 FOOT WATER HOSE, A 15 FOOD BLACK WATER HOSE. A SMALL TOOL KIT, TWO CAMPING CHAIRS THAT ARE VERY LIGHT. MY VIEW DOES NOT HAVE A LOT OF STUFF LOADED. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS THAT PACKING THIS WAY IS OK FOR A SHORT WEEKEND, BUT NOT A MAJOR TRIP. THE VIEW HAS A LOT OF STORAGE AND MINE ARE NOT FULL. IF I WERE TO GO ON A TRIP AND BRING MY WIFE THE VIEW WOULD BE OVER THE WEIGHT AS AT THIS POINT I HAVE 20 LBS TO PLAY WITH. I CAN'T ADD MORE FUEL OR MUCH OF ANYTHING ELSE. THIS IS A HUG SAFETY ISSUE. YES I DID ADD HWH LEVELERS, BUT WGO WHILE NOT INSTALLING THEM DOES NOT TELL ME NOT TO. THE SAME GOES FOR MY TRAVELER DISH. ACCORDING TO BOTH COMPANIES THIS IS ABOUT 200 LBS OF ADDITIONAL WEIGHT. I BELIEVE THE VIEW IS OVER WEIGHT AS DESIGNED. IT HAD 4 SEATING POSITION AND 4 GOOD SIDE OUTSIDE STORAGE COMPARTMENTS. AS BUILT THIS VIEW IS NOT CAPABLE OF MEETING ITS EXPECTED MISSION. IT IS TOO HEAVY. I DON'T THINK I SHOULD DRIVE THIS COACH AS IS. I COULD TAKE OUT EVERYTHING INSIDE AND MAYBE GET 200 LBS OF CAPACITY BUT I DOUBT ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO USE A MOTOR HOME WITH NO FOOD OR POTS AND PANS ( MINE ARE ALUM ) I AM POSITIVE THAT THE VIEW G LIKE MINE WITH THE OVERHEAD BUNK IS OVERWEIGHT, HAS TOO MANY STORAGE BINS, TOO MANY SEATS (4). YES IT IS A SMALL RV BUT I IS GOOD FOR MY WIFE AND I BUT I NEED A RV THAT IS SAFE AND THIS RV IS NOT SAFE AS DESIGNED.
