2022 Lexus NX Recalls & Complaints

my vehicle was boought back under the California lemon lawyer today. It had repeated electrical failures in which the 12 V battery would fail. Lexus was never able to find out why but one occasion I could not exit the vehicle through the driver front door because the electrical and the backup mechanical did not work I exited thru the backseat. I reported this to lexus. Lexus has a responsibility to be sure people can safely exit their vehicle in an electrical failure.

2022 Lexus NX 350h, VIN JTJGKCEZ6N2002622. On multiple documented occasions since 2022, while backing up, the vehicle's rear camera/backup system has detected an object that was not present and automatically applied the emergency brake, causing a sudden hard stop with no actual obstruction — at least 7 times per dealer records (repair orders dated 8/11/2022 and 7/19/2023, Lexus of Riverside), including once with my child in the vehicle. The dealer was unable to duplicate or repair the condition on either visit. Separately, the vehicle has twice become inoperative and trapped me inside — once in April 2025 near 100°F outside temperature, and once in November 2025 for over an hour, requiring AAA to replace the battery. I'm concerned this vehicle poses an ongoing safety risk from unpredictable automatic braking and electrical/lock malfunctions.

I am happy to have anyone come look at my vehicle for inspection. My passenger headlight daytime running light LEDs have changed color and are failing in this sealed unit. I have spoken with a service technician at a body shop, and had my insurance company inspect my headlight as they all believe it is faulty. The daytime running element is a completely off-white yellowed color, while it should only be cool white LED color. This completely varied color impacts the performance and visibility of my vehicle. This different color and fading output is impacting my vehicle's visibility while on the road, and makes me less visible to other vehicle and pedestrian traffic on any and all roadways. This very problem was reported to a service and body shop repair location, and was inspected by a Lexus dealership at the request of Lexus Brand Engagement for the dealer service to inspect and report on their findings. The dealer determined the headlight would need to be replaced to repair the failing daytime running element. There have been zero warning lamps or messages about this failing headlight component, and this began to appear after the headlight on the driver's side of the vehicle was replaced because of a completely separate accident and subsequent repair. The discoloration and faded output of the daytime running element was the issue with both of these headlights, only noticed when the driver side headlight unit was completely replaced, indicating this error on the passenger side. A service technician told me directly this could be the start of a recall. I have looked online and many other NX and other Toyota-Lexus drivers are experiencing early-onset failure of these headlight components. There was mention of these components overheating and failing. My vehicle is only four years old, and Lexus Brand Engagement has refused to follow up about this failing component. This is not normal for these components to be failing at such an early point of lifetime use.

The contact owns a 2022 Lexus NX 350. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the blind spot cameras failed to properly operate. The contact stated that the Mobile App was used to activate the blind spot monitoring system while driving manually. The dealer was notified of the failure; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,748.

The sunroof exploded while I was driving on the highway, traveling at approximately 70 mph. There was frost on the car & I had the defroster up high when initially getting into the car. However, by the time I got on the highway, it was turned down to the 2nd level. Prior to this occurring, I did not hear any noise or anything that would cause me to think there was something wrong with the sunroof. The explosion caused me to duck down immediately, but there were no other vehicles around me. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired. I filed a claim with my Insurance company & had the repairs completed at a local body shop. However, I do believe they took the vehicle to Lexus to be repaired.

The transmission (Torque Converter) is shuddering at a certain RPM range when it is in 3rd gear (in between 1000-2000 RPM) in my case. (Roughly 15-25 mph) This could lead to an uneven acceleration and cause an accident. Especially in a bad traction situation ex)snow, rain, uneven surface and etc. Also, it could cause and accident due to unable to accelerate in time. The vehicle was inspected and dealership were saying it was the tire and balancing issue, but not fixed. There is no warning light associated with.

[XXX] I was Braking while pulling into my Carport almost at the Rear curb, when Suddenly and without Any Warning, my 2022 NX 450h Accelerated Rapidly and sent Me up a short Hill and Crashed into a Large Tree While I still had my foot on the Brake. Then it kept Accelerating and the Front tires Dug a 4in Deep Hole while they were Spinning still with My foot on the brake! I was able to get the car into Reverse and backed it down the hill and turned it off. It wasn't Drivable due to the Extensive Front Damage, so I had it Towed it to my Local Roseville CA Lexus Dealership service and they Told Me to "Get The [XXX] out of Here". Then I had it Towed to a Repair Shop recommended by Lexus. Contacted Lexus to have an Investigation Started and it Took Almost 1 Month to Have an Investigator come out to Look at and had it Towed to Roseville Lexus To obtain the Crash Data from the Black Box. Lexus "Reviewed the Data and Found there was an Unexplained Sudden Acceleration 20 seconds before the Car jumped the curb and Crashed into the Tree." They Did Nothing. I Had My Farmer's Insurance Pay over $19,000 to Have My Car Fixed- it Took 4 mos due to Backordered Parts. Needless to Say, My Car Insurance has Skyrocketed as this is Labeled "At Fault". I Noted the Same Scenario on a NHTSA Complaint #11527971 dated 6/20/23. 2nd Complaint is for the Electrical System and a Complete Lockout on [XXX]. Went to Unlock my car and it wouldn't Unlock. Tried Multiple times, then popped off Key Cover on Handle and used the Valet key to unlock the Door. Once inside, The Car I left the Door open and when I pressed Power, it Wouldn't Start, Nor Shift, but the Steering wheel Would Turn Still. Had to have the Car Towed to Lexus. They Found that the 12v Battery had been Drained and They Claim it was "due to the Security System malfunctioning". I am due to pickup the Car after a Supposed "Fix" but They Refused to Replace the Battery at My Request. I am Very Concerned with These Issues.
