2025 Vinfast VF 8 Recalls & Complaints

Car suddenly went into limp mode and airbag failure warning, collision warning, and seatbelt warnings went off. Car slowed to 1 mph on a busy highway almost instantly. We could have been hit from behind and had to struggle to get the car to the shoulder from the center lane. Warnings appeared seconds before the limp mode activation. We had the car towed to Vinfast Orlando, and after a 10 day repair they had the airbag replaced, and the seatbelt sensor replaced. After picking the car up and taking it home, on the next trip all the sensors went off again and the car is saying to have the car returned for service. We are afraid to drive the car due to the sudden stopping and the fact that it must be returned again for the same issue.

As per recall notice received from Vinfast, I took my car to Service center for mandatory software upgrade on Jan 19 2026. It has been 46 days till now and I still don't have te car . Software upgrade has been having issues and all installed cameras were replaced but still software is not working as desired. There is no ETA on completion of the job and I have lost confidence in company's ability to correctly upgrade the software.without any glitches. I have also sent an email to Vinfast to buyback my lease since I dont want the vehicle anymore.

For approximately two weeks, this vehicle exhibited intermittent, uncommanded steering wheel "tugs" and erratic Lane Keeping Assist behavior. During a U-turn on 1/25/2026, the vehicle struck a curb. While I cannot definitively isolate driver input from system input during the maneuver, the vehicle immediately entered a "fail-safe" state, triggering a cascade of specific error codes: Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Fault, Front AEB Unavailable, Highway Assist Inoperative, and Intelligent Speed Adaptation Inoperative. These errors are directly tied to the ADAS/ADCU systems currently under NHTSA Recall 25V559, which identifies a defect where the system provides "sudden steering inputs that are difficult for the driver to override" during turns. The dealership VinFast Lisle is acknowledging these recall-related errors are present but is refusing to cover the resulting physical damage, quoting a repair cost of over $2,100 + taxes. I am reporting this because the manufacturer should not be able to dismiss a collision that occurs while a vehicle is actively suffering from a known, federally-recalled steering defect. I request that the NHTSA investigate whether this hardware damage is a consequence of the software failure.

The contact owns a 2025 Vinfast VF8. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the cruise control and steering assist feature did not function as intended. The contact stated that the steering wheel independently steered into an unintended direction. The contact stated that the failure almost caused a crash. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice. In addition, the contact stated that the last failure was scary, and the vehicle had been parked since then. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V559000 (Lane Departure). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. In addition, the contact was advised to contact the independent contractor that was provided by the manufacturer to have the repair performed. The independent contractor was contacted; however, the contact was requested to pay for the repair. The contact declined the repair because the repair was a recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 1. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2025 Vinfast VF8. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V559000 (Lane Departure); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact was unable to locate an authorized service center. The contact was also unable to contact the manufacturer for assistance in locating an authorized service center. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool search not available.
