Defect description

Thor Motor Company (TMC) is recalling certain 2023-2026 Axis, Chateau, Four Winds, 2023-2025 Coleman, Echelon, Freedom Elite, Geneva, Outlaw, Quantum, Vegas, 2025 Eddie Bauer, Freedom Traveler, Pasadena, and 2024-2025 Magnitude motorhomes. The slide-Out room can be deployed without the parking brake engaged, allowing the room to extend while the vehicle is in motion.

Safety consequence

A slide-Out room that extends unexpectedly increases the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will replace the park brake harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2025. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000325.

Incident: July 17, 2024 · Filed: July 31, 2024

While traveling on [XXX] on [XXX] the engine suddenly made a very loud banging noise, and the RV was quickly losing power. I managed to ease over to the shoulder and come to a stop before the engine shutdown. It would not restart. I called roadside assistance and two hours later a tow showed up and took it to a Ford dealership in Quakertown, PA that could service an RV. Their diagnostics confirmed that it suffered a catastrophic engine failure. It is still at the dealership. My wife and I were terrified that an inattentive driver would slam into the car attached to the back of the RV or sideswipe the RV itself as it was only 3ft from the travel lane. There were no warnings of any kind. All of the gauges were reading normal and there was only 10300 miles on the odometer. It was safety inspected and had the oil changed just 2 months prior.
