While driving my 2025 Jeep Compass, the vehicle displayed a “Service 4x4” warning and began producing a loud engine/drivetrain noise accompanied by severe physical jerking and you could hear the car having difficulty shifting gears once the transmission got hot enough (over 130 degrees). The jerking was significant enough to affect the vehicle’s normal operation and raised concerns about maintaining control and safely driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a Jeep dealership for inspection. The dealership originally diagnosed the differential as the cause of the problem and replaced the differential. Approximately 15 minutes after leaving the dealership following this repair, the same loud noise and severe jerking returned. The vehicle was immediately returned to the dealership. The dealership then diagnosed the PTU (Power Transfer Unit) as the cause of the problem and replaced the PTU. Approximately 20 minutes after leaving the dealership following the PTU replacement, the same loud noise and severe jerking occurred again. The problem has therefore occurred repeatedly and has returned almost immediately after two separate drivetrain repairs. The vehicle has been inspected and the problem has been reproduced, but the underlying cause has not been resolved. I am concerned that the vehicle may have an unresolved defect involving the AWD/drivetrain system because the same severe noise, jerking, and abnormal shifting returned almost immediately after both major drivetrain repairs. The vehicle continues to present the same safety concern. I’ve also seen other 2025 Jeep owners talk about experiencing the same issues on online forums.

I bought my jeep brand new in 2025. I have had multiple occasions where my breaks lock up when on the highway or main roads. The collision detection settings are all "OFF" since my first experience of this happening. I have taken my vehile in the jeep facility a couple of times now and they tell me they do not see anything coming out bad on their end when checking the system. It is still occurring. And I am taking my car back in to get it looked at again. When this happens there are no chimes, signals or anything that tells me "something is in front of me". Also when this happens there won't be a car or anything in the roadway. I could be driving a clear road at 50-60mph and it feels as if I hit a brick wall for a moment then my car just continues. Jarring me forward. I am afraid if someone is ever behind me when this happens with myself and my family in this vehicle I could get rear ended and cause a horrible accident. I'm especially fearful when driving on the highway for this to happen when someone is behind me. At this point I want a new vehicle to let me feel safe again. This should not be happening especially when I have all sensors for this turned "OFF".

The problem is reoccurance in short periods of time. I had an alignment done at 14,000 miles, then at about 20,000 miles when the tires were replace. Now, the car has 34,000 miles and requires another alignment due to excessive tire wear on the inner portion of the tire. The car has only been driving under normal driving conditions for the area; 95% highway driving. There haven't been any impacts to anything which could cause the alignment to fail this horribly so frequently. This is the only car I have ever owned that has ever needed an alignment three times in a one year timeframe. Independent service centers reproduced the first two times. The first time the mechanic informed me that it was mechanically impossible to get the car within Jeep's aligment specifications without aftermarket parts. Aftermarket parts were installed to get the vehicle within Jeep's aligment specifications due to the tires being replaced. I can personally visually inspect the tires and confirm excessive wear on 80,000 mile tires that I bought in April of 2026. The car will be taken into a dealership this time. This issue can cause the car to walk across the lane, harder than normal steering/controll, and loss of traction easier than normal on wet or slick surfaces. I can provide receipts

Several safety warning lights continue to appear while driving. Car slows down on its own at times. Media screen glitches as well. Dealer has worked on the car about 4-5 times. Currently, the car is with the dealer for a 3rd straight week and they claim to not have any loaners. Dealer has continuously stated that the sensor needs to be kept clean, but this is just a distraction. These cars are not safe on the road and should all be recalled as lemons. The manufacturer is using subpar systems and master technicians have been unable to completely fix the issue. These issues began to appear before car had 8k miles. This issue is frustrating and scary.

Warning message in dash stating that the drive mode is unavailable. Emergency and safety features are not functioning as they should. The emergency braking and forward collision warning doesn’t work. When driving, the warnings will go off independently and disengage. Byers Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership in Columbus serviced the vehicle May 2026-August 2026 with support from Stellantis replaced multiple components and the harness to repair the drive system, with all failed attempts to correct the problem. On August 10, 2026 the dealership returned my car to me, citing no repair available and that a software update should correct the issue. Dealership advises the car is safe to operate.

The contact rented a 2025 Jeep Compass. While the contact’s husband was driving approximately 70 MPH, there was a burning odor and an abnormal sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road, and the contact and her husband observed whitish gray smoke that eventually turned black coming from the engine compartment. The hood was opened and immediately there were flames coming from the engine compartment. The contact and her husband removed personal belongings from the vehicle. During the failure, three sheriffs pulled up behind the burning vehicle. A Police report was filed. The Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
