Battery Cable May Short Circuit

Defect description

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2021, 2023-2027 MV, and 2026-2027 HV vehicles. The battery interconnect cable may contact the auxiliary stud and hold down bracket, causing a short circuit.

Safety consequence

A short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will install plastic saddles onto the positive interconnect cable, install wind laces and a J-bolt between each battery, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 26, 2026. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 26510. This recall replaces and expands NHTSA Recall 25V534. Vehicles previously repaired under 25V534 will need the new remedy completed.

Defect description

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2016 7600, 2016-2023 Lonestar, 2018 8600, 2018-2023 LT, 2021-2026 MV, 2022-2023 RH, 2023-2026 HX, and 2025-2026 HV vehicles. Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.

Safety consequence

Safety systems that depend on the ECU, such as Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System, may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

International will work with Bendix to reprogram the ECU, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 19, 2026. Owners may contact International's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25525. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 12, 2026.

Brake Pressure Switch May Short and Cause Fire

Defect description

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2018 International 4000 Series 4300, 2017-2025 MV, 2018-2024 1300 FBC, 2018-2025 IC Bus TC, and 2024-2025 IC Bus CECB vehicles. The brake pressure switch assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch's electrical components and cause an electrical short-circuit.

Safety consequence

An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.

Manufacturer remedy

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will install a silicone black jumper harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 15, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25509. Vehicles previously repaired under 23V397 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Defect description

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 HV, HX, LT, MV, RH, and 2025 EMV vehicles. The linkage that connects the right-side wiper arm to the motor may separate, causing the wipers to fail.

Safety consequence

Windshield wiper failure can reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2024 HV, 2020-2025 MV, and 2019 Workstar 7400 trucks. The caliper may contact a suspension spring or axle U-bolt and prevent the outer brake pad from functioning.

Safety consequence

A loss of outer brake pad function can extend the vehicle's stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will switch the left and right rear air disc brake calipers, replace the rear brake torque plates, and replace the brake pads, free of charge. International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Lonestar, 2021-2025 RH, HV, MV, LT, HX, and 2022 PROSTAR vehicles, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU). Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.

Safety consequence

Safety systems that depend on the ECU (Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System) may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2025 International HV, HX, LT, MV, and RH vehicles. The tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.

Safety consequence

Tie rod failure can cause a loss of vehicle steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

The steering gear assemblies may have been assembled incorrectly with fewer recirculating balls than are required, which may result in a loss of steering control.

Truck is unsafe at highway speeds shaking violently and making lane changes scary and sways too much shakes at 65-70 and can’t see clearly out mirrors or concentrate as it sways from side to side at lane changes. Replaced new tires with new tires. Driveshaft service and alignments and balancing. No help. Dealer said to complain to factory and stopped working on it saying I should trade it off since it’s a lemon.

The serpentine belt system keeps on eating belts. This unit needs a 4th belt with only 8900 miles. Its had many trips to the dealer under warranty and they refuse to fix the Root Cause of the belts going bad. The serpentine belt system controls the ac compressor, water pump, cooling fan and alternator. When belt failure occurs multiple truck operating systems simultaneously go down. The belt will start squeeking then eventually will stop charging. The dealership has replaced the belt tensioner and the serpentine belt twice. Its a design flaw, there is an engineering issue with either the belt tensioner, idlers or pulley alignment. The chassis upfitter was also complaining of multiple brand new units experiencing excessive belt squeeling that will in short time lead to failure. The problem is known about at the dealer, it is very easily reproduced as belts average lifespan is about 2,000 miles. This is a dangerous condition as it can disable multiple truck systems in the event of belt failure. No warning lamps.
