2020 Infiniti QX60 Recalls, Ratings & Complaints

While traveling at 75 mph(speed limit) on the interstate, the vehicle's CVT transmission suffered a catastrophic failure and suddenly lost all power/acceleration, dropping into a low-gear limp mode. No engine light appeared until after we parked. This caused an immediate and dangerous drop in speed in high-speed busy traffic, nearly causing a severe multi-vehicle collision. We put our hazards on and continued at about 20 mph until the first exit nearly a mile away. This happened during mountain interstate driving with large distances between towns where most have no dealerships. We were able to get to a mechanic/gas station just off of the exit who ran the codes and told us that the transmission will have to be replaced and he had no means of doing it as well as any other location with in about 150 miles. I had the vehicle towed to the closest Infiniti dealer at a cost of 1,015. Was then told that a replacement would be needed at over 9500. This is a luxury brand (Infiniti) and is only a 2020 QX 60 with 72,000 miles. Warranty was until 70,000. Definitely by any measure a premature defect. Told by service advisor that CVTs are a real problem in the QX 60s due to not being able to handle the weight. 2022 and younger no longer use CVT. Infiniti extended warranties on the same car from 2015-2018 years and currently 2019-21 in a lawsuit Ross vs Nissan North America. Traveling with an [XXX] mother, myself and wife. Luckily we were not stranded in the middle of nowhere. Trying to geta goodwill from Infiniti but they are not considering the perfect maintenance records, timely transmission fluid services and all work being done at the Infiniti dealer previously. I had brought up concerns about the transition from park to drive seeming delayed in engagement multiple times over my 3 year ownership of the vehicle and was never fixed or seriously looked beginning at one month of my ownership and the 59,000 transmission fluid exchange service. The CVT Transmission without any warning gave out and wont allow my car to drive forward just reverse. Its been out and its an expensive repair. No check engine warning light came on and my car wont run.

I am submitting this formal safety defect complaint regarding a serious and life-threatening incident involving my 2020 Infiniti QX60. While traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour on a public highway, the vehicle’s hood suddenly and violently flew fully open without warning. This resulted in an immediate and complete loss of forward visibility while the vehicle was in motion.The hood had been properly closed prior to driving, and there were no warning indicators, unusual noises, or prior issues suggesting a problem with the latch mechanism. This event appeared to involve a total failure of both the primary hood latch and the secondary safety latch system, which are specifically designed to prevent this type of occurrence. The incident created an extremely dangerous situation with a high risk of a catastrophic collision, serious injury, or death to myself and other motorists. I was fortunate to maintain control of the vehicle and safely slow down without a crash. This was a near-miss catastrophic event caused by a critical safety system failure. A hood opening at highway speed creates total loss of visibility and represents a severe hazard to roadway safety. The vehicle is currently being preserved without repair so that the failure can be properly evaluated. I am reporting this incident so it can be investigated for potential design, manufacturing, or mechanical defects that could affect other drivers. I have a 2020 Infiniti QX60. While driving on the interstate I75 the check engine light came on and the car lost power. This was very dangerous as it could have caused a very serious accident. Had to have car towed to dealership. Was told that the transmission needed to be replaced at a cost of $8,600. This suv has only about 75,000 miles. Upon checking the internet I found that this transmission issue has been a problem for a number of years and Infiniti has not adequately addressed it. This is a safety issue and Infiniti should take ownership and fix problem.

I was driving my vehicle and as I was making a turn lost power and almost got struct by a vehicle coming from the other direction I regained power and immediately called Infiniti dealership and spoke to service advisor to have vehicle inspected I recently had the cvt transmission replaced a month prior when I brought suv in I was informed it was not the transmission but the right shaft seal and transfer case were leaking and low on fluid causing the power loss I was told that there was a tsb issued by Nissan in regards to this I believe this should be changed to a recall especially being a chronic issue with these vehicles there should be a safety recall cause of the power loss thank God I regained power I had my wife and kids in the vehicle and was a very nerve racking scenario I contacted corporate Infiniti but they were not helpful at all

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2020 Infiniti QX60. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. Additionally, the transmission was jerking while the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 46,000. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but no assistance was provided. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 57,000. The VIN was not available.

2020 infinity qx 60 Bought car used in 2024 with 80,000. There is a hesitation when accelerating and sometimes seems to want to die when idling. There is also a knocking sound at times when accelerating. At times I feel transmission skips. When turning right or left or reversing, the wheels seem to creek and almost grind a bit. I am great about maintenance and called to determine if my vin was included in the current recalls. I am told no, but am experiencing the same symptoms described by infinity. Just want to know if there is a any action to take to ensure my 4 kids and I are always safe when traveling and dont end up with thousands in repairs.

My engine is making a knocking noise and wants to stall sometimes. Some other Nissan engines have recalls and I feel like it should include this engine. This is a 2020 and I still owe a lot of money. I should not be having major engine issues. Please look at this engine with the other recalls.

There are two problems we have had for many miles. 1. CVT- completely gone at 120K miles but we have had problems almost from the beginning (lease then bought). We were told by the Infiniti dealership they couldn't find anything (30-40K miles approximately) so we let it go thinking maybe it was the carpet mat rubbing up against the gas pedal that made the engine scudder, limp then go fast. Dealership is asking $7K + to replace. -Safety wise the acceleration was lessened. Think of merging on a highway with 18 wheelers on your tail and the car just revs up to 5000 rpms and you are going nowhere. - Infiniti dealership has confirmed the CVT needs to be replaced. - No other inspection(s) has occurred. -The symptoms have been almost all along. Was not identified when at dealership. 2. Rear Coupler. It was replaced in September 2023 with 81,344 miles. And now at approximately 120K miles it needs to be replaced. Again, this is almost from the time of purchase the scrapping noise. We thought it was the tires scrapping when we turned. I find it hard to believe a part can go so quickly (39K miles). $3K + to replace in 2023. -Safety wise the traction in wet weather. - Nissan dealership identified and repaired in September 2023. Provided a 12 month/12K mile warranty. Way too little for the cost of the repair. Infiniti dealership diagnosed this with the CVT. (above) - Nissan dealership said they would need to inspect to determine if there was anything they would do. -The symptons have been almost all along. Was not identified when at dealership.

The contact owns a 2020 Infiniti QX60. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 65 MPH, the sunroof glass shattered without impact. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was inspected, and the contact was informed that there was no cause for the failure found. The contact was informed that the sunroof glass needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.
