I am reporting a potentially serious transmission safety issue involving my 2022 Genesis GV70 2.5T AWD. While traveling on [XXX] through [XXX]’s Grapevine, my vehicle unexpectedly jerked and appeared to slip out of gear. Engine RPMs increased to approximately 3,500–4,000 without corresponding acceleration and remained unusually high, including while driving on level ground. No warning lights or error messages appeared. The symptoms recurred after restarting the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently experienced complete loss of propulsion and would no longer move in Drive or Reverse, despite the engine revving. Genesis Santa Monica confirmed the no-movement condition. According to repair order #XXX, technicians found transmission fluid approximately one quart low, dark brown, and burnt-smelling. They added fluid, reset adaptive values, and performed a transmission control module relearn. No diagnostic trouble codes were found, and the vehicle remained inoperable. The dealership recommended transmission replacement at an estimated cost of approximately $15,000. I am concerned that an unexpected loss of power while traveling at freeway speeds could create a serious collision risk, particularly when no warning indicators appear. I request that NHTSA review this incident for a possible transmission-related safety defect and determine whether similar failures are occurring in other Genesis GV70 vehicles. The fuel pump was no longer connected, and the engine had a crack, with oil leaking, without an engine light coming on until the very end. Loss of steering control and inability to accelerate.

VIN # [XXX] - My tracking number assigned by NHTSA is11755682. Today, [XXX], I received a voicemail from Vanessa at GMA Case Management, [email protected], Re: Case #[XXX], stating that she would be resolving my case. This case/inspection she prompted following a serious smoke-related incident on [XXX]. This terrifying and potentially dangerous incident left my vehicle undrivable, and it remains so to this day, with significant safety concerns still unresolved. I remain without my vehicle, without the documentation I have repeatedly requested, and without an update, despite being told there is no update. Yet I receive a message about resolving the very case I was encouraged to open in response to the serious safety concerns. Despite my repeated requests, I have not received the inspection report or a substantive update regarding the inspection, findings, decisions, or outstanding steps. I was also told there is no central portal or area where I can monitor my case's progress. I would greatly appreciate answers to my multiple email requests. What is the basis for proposing to resolve this case before the inspection findings have been shared and the serious safety concerns that left me in harm’s way have been adequately addressed? How can this matter reasonably be considered resolved when I still have no answers, no requested documentation, and no assurance that my vehicle can be returned to safe, drivable condition? I am simply seeking a timely, transparent resolution that addresses the serious safety concerns, provides the outstanding inspection findings, and gives me confidence that my vehicle can be returned to safe, roadworthy condition. After nearly three months without my vehicle, I believe it is reasonable to expect meaningful communication, clear answers, and a path toward resolution, not continued delays without substantive updates. While operating my 2022 Genesis GV70 2.5T Advanced, the vehicle experienced a sudden, catastrophic structural failure of the Front Right Strut Mount / Upper Insulator Assembly (OEM Part Number: 54611AR000). Under normal driving conditions, the structural aluminum alloy casting of the upper strut mount completely fractured and sheared apart. This structural metal failure allowed the highly pressurized front suspension strut shaft to completely blow through the mount assembly. The unleashed strut shot upward into the engine bay, shattering the protective plastic cowl shroud, striking the underside of the vehicle's hood, and causing significant secondary body and mechanical damage. This is an unprovoked material and manufacturing defect in the structural alloy utilized by Genesis, not the result of an accident or collision impact.

My 2022 Genesis G70 has experienced repeated turbocharger and exhaust-system problems. In August and September 2025, the vehicle was serviced for exhaust/turbo-related gaskets and clamps and a misfire condition. It later developed knocking, sluggish acceleration, and additional turbo problems. The dealer replaced the turbo wastegate in February 2026, and additional turbocharger repairs were subsequently required. On July 28, 2026, an exhaust leak near the turbocharger was diagnosed. While operating the vehicle, I experienced headaches, dizziness, chest discomfort, and irritation of my eyes and nose. I was concerned that exhaust fumes could enter the passenger compartment and impair my ability to operate the vehicle safely. I sought medical care for a headache on July 29, 2026. I have not received medical confirmation of carbon-monoxide poisoning. The exhaust leak was repaired in August 2026, but on August 17, 2026, the leak appeared again in the same location. The condition has therefore been reproduced and confirmed through service inspections and has recurred after repair. The vehicle and its repair records are available for inspection upon request. Previous symptoms included a check-engine light, misfire, knocking, sluggish acceleration, and exhaust-related concerns. The vehicle has also experienced several extended periods out of service for repairs.

The vehicle experiences a dangerous 2-3 second 'dead pedal' delay during acceleration on hot restarts. When flooring the pedal to the floorboards, the vehicle fails to respond; it moves slowly. This was reported to Denville NJ Dealership on 8/27/26: dealer stated they test drove it could not replicate, and there were no stored codes. This was reported to Denville NJ Dealership and 4/2/26 and dealership reported they "believed" to be due to TCM communication error. This was reported by previous owner on 4/26/24 to Englewood, NJ Dealership and they could not duplicate.

Reason: Left blank Service Advisors' texts attached: 1, 2, and 3 from [XXX] of Genesis/[XXX] of HHI: The dealership’s verbal assessment was that the fuel pump area bolts sheared off due to "outside work" or "over-tightening, I asked for photos to provide visual, metallurgical proof of tool marks or cross-threading to back up that claim, and [XXX] verbally stated they had submitted those to Genesis. I never received the photos. The last attachment (Diagnostic Check). **RESPONSE to dealerships' speculation: ** Under Federal Recall 033G (NHTSA Campaign 26V229000), which directly involves the failure of fuel system retention fasteners, the Insufficient torque on the stabilizer bolts is prone to a bolt backing out even a fraction of an inch; the fuel assembly begins to vibrate violently against it. This creates immense lateral (sideways) fatigue stress on the bolt threads. Eventually, under that continuous vibration and stress, the metal fatigues and shears (snaps) completely off. Subject: Vehicle Safety Incident Report – Fuel Pump Disconnection and Oil Leak To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Date: July 27, 2026 I am submitting this report to detail a recent vehicle malfunction that posed significant risks to my safety and that of others on the road. While driving to work, I experienced a situation where my vehicle was unable to shift gears properly or accelerate as expected. This loss of acceleration and responsiveness created substantial control problems, making it difficult to maneuver safely in traffic. Notably, no dashboard warning lights were illuminated at the time, which gave me the false impression that the vehicle was operating correctly. Initially, I perceived a dragging sensation in the car, which I believed was manageable. However, the situation quickly escalated when I observed smoke coming from the vehicle. The presence of smoke not only impaired my visibility but also posed a serious risk of fire or engine failure. The danger was heightened as I attempted to drive uphill; the car struggled even more, increasing the potential for an accident or collision due to impaired maneuverability. Following this incident, I had my vehicle towed to an auto repair shop for a diagnostic check. The diagnostic report revealed that the fuel pump was not attached to anything and that oil was leaking into the pan. These findings confirm that the issues were real and not just perceived. The disconnected fuel pump and oil leak represent systemic failures, which could have had catastrophic consequences if not addressed promptly. In conclusion, this experience highlighted grave risks to both personal and public safety. Hello [XXX], I was wondering are you handling the case against Hyundai/Genesis. I own a 2022 GV70 43K on it, took it to the dealer on 7/24/26 photos on file at the dealer in Dublin, Ca. Got home in the evening, and parked my car in my garage, then left the next evening 7/25/26 to a wedding got home late, 7/26/26 drove my card to get a bite to eat and seen this, (see photos) I reviewed on line and this a known issue with Hyundai/Genesis a well documented factory defect. That the paint just lifts off due to no being cured properly. That it prematurely oxidizes and weakens and peels off, mine is not oxidized but it just has peeled straight off the hood. This is like toyota white tacoma Trucks issues, with paint. Are you handling this and where do I get in on the claim or start one? for a 60K vehicle this is unacceptable. I also have a video. The vehicle has experienced a pattern of recurring electrical failures beginning shortly after purchase, involving driver door controls (window, lock, mirror, and interior lighting functions), which have required four separate repair attempts over approximately three years, including replacement of a door module, a wiring harness, and a door switch assembly. Despite these repairs, the same driver door electrical failure has recurred multiple times. The vehicle has also experienced a seat memory module failure (module was replaced), and a persistent rear hatch malfunction that has never been resolved. The most serious concern is that the vehicle has, on multiple occasions, unexpectedly shut down while being driven, including instrument cluster and infotainment screens going dark, occurring when the automatic engine stop/start feature engages at intersections. The vehicle has restarted on its own after acceleration in some instances. Power steering assist has also been affected during at least one of these events. Most recently, the vehicle failed to start at all on one occasion, requiring roadside assistance to jump the battery; the dealer diagnosed unstable battery voltage but did not identify a root cause connecting this event to the prior shutdown incidents. This creates a significant safety risk due to potential loss of vehicle control or loss of power while operating in traffic. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer on multiple occasions (door module and wiring harness failures were diagnosed and repaired), though the shutdown-while-driving events specifically have not been duplicated by the dealer despite multi-day testing. The vehicle has been inspected exclusively by the authorized dealer; it has not been inspected by police or independent parties. Warning symptoms (flickering door lights, dead door controls) preceded the shutdown/stall issue by roughly a year before the stalling symptom began.
