Defect description

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2022-2027 Cedar Creek, 2023-2027 FR3, 2023-2026 Palomino, 2024 Cardinal, Wildcat, Shasta Oasis, 2024-2026 Forest River Hardside, Palomino Real-Lite Camper, 2026 Puma Tracks, and Puma recreational vehicles and trailers, equipped with certain power seating assemblies. The power cord fuse may not provide adequate circuit protection.

Safety consequence

In the event of a short circuit, inadequate protection increases the risk of a fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the power cord, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 21, 2026. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-535-2748. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-2109.

Defect description

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2004-2024 Cedar Creek and 2006-2024 Puma fifth wheels trailers. The overcurrent protection from the trailer battery may have been incorrectly routed, allowing the wires to be pulled out of the junction box.

Safety consequence

A loose wire can cause a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will reroute the wires to the protected side of the mini-beaker, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 10, 2024. Owners may contact Puma customer service at 1-574-642-0588 or Cedar Creek customer service at 260-593-4000. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-1786.

(Forest River) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Coachmen Catalina, Cross Trail, Pursuit, Sportscoach, East to West Della Terra, Silver Lake, Forest River Forester, FR3, Sunseeker, Wildwood, 2022 Coachmen Adrenaline, Apex, Brookstone, Chaparral, Chapparral Lite, Clipper, Freedom Express, Independence Trail, Mirada, Spirit, Viking, Work and Play, East to West Ahara, Tandara, Forest River Aurora, Cardinal, Cedar Creek, Cherokee, Flagstaff, Georgetown, Ibex, Impression, Ozark, Puma, R-Pod, Rockwood, Sabre, Salem, Sandpiper, Sandstorm, Shockwave, Sierra, Solera, Stealth, Stealth Evo, Surveyor, Vengeance, Vibe, Wildcat, XLR Toyhauler, Prime Time Avenger, Crusader, Lacrosse, Sanibel, Tracer, Shasta Oasis, and Phoenix fifth wheel and travel trailers. The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.

Safety consequence

An awning that drops or extends beyond normal operation can increase the risk of injury.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will replace the fabric roll or complete awning, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 17, 2022. Owners may contact the customer service numbers listed in the recall report for their designated model. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-1532. The quick disconnect fittings in the LP gas system may be cracked, causing a gas leak.

Safety consequence

A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Manufacturer remedy

The contact stated that she became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V556000 (Equipment) however, she was unable to reach the manufacturer for assistance with recall repair. The contact had not been able to reach the local dealer after several attempts. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Fire

Incident: April 10, 2022 · Filed: May 10, 2022

The contact owns a 2022 Forest River Cedar Creek. The contact stated that while outside of his trailer, he smelled a fuel odor emitting from the trailer. The contact performed an inspection on the trailer and discovered that his LP tanks were consuming propane at an accelerated speed. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where he informed them that he would not take possession of the trailer until the trailer was repaired. The contact stated that while the trailer was being repaired, the stove caught fire while a technician was inside the trailer; he was also informed that the fire had caused damage to the inside of the trailer which they would also repair. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that his vehicle was placed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V243000 (EQUIPMENT) which he linked to his failure. The manufacturer was notified about the fire but offered no assistance. The vehicle remained in possession of the dealer and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 35.
