Defect description

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Dodge Hornet and 2023-2026 Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles. The rear outboard seat belts may become twisted and fail to retract properly.

Safety consequence

A seat belt that does not retract may fail to restrain properly an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

Manufacturer remedy

Dealers will replace the retractors and pillar trim, as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 17, 2026. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 84D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on August 15, 2026.

Steering; Lane Departure

Incident: October 31, 2026 · Filed: October 31, 2026

My 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale Veloce has an unresolved driver-assistance and lane-centering malfunction. When engaged, the system repeatedly steers the vehicle between lane markings instead of maintaining a centered position. On October 31, 2026, while driving home from Ferrari/Maserati of Fort Lauderdale, the vehicle crossed into the adjacent middle lane twice without warning, audible alert, or dashboard message. This creates a serious collision risk at highway speeds, and I have stopped using the feature. I initially reported the malfunction on September 16, 2026, under Repair Order #193555. The dealership retained my vehicle for 45 days, until October 31, with mileage increasing from 32,193 to 32,238. Technicians identified multiple diagnostic trouble codes, inspected camera connections and parking sensors, updated the ECM, HCP, and AHCP modules, performed a proxy alignment, and test-drove the vehicle. I was also informed of wiring harness investigations and steering wheel sensor problems. Manufacturer STAR technical assistance cases were opened, and Alfa Romeo Customer Care was involved under Case #98208723. Despite manufacturer involvement and the extended repair period, the dealership declared the vehicle operating correctly. The malfunction persisted immediately after pickup, including two unintended lane departures. The exact cause remains undiagnosed. No warning lights or messages appear during these incidents. The vehicle is available for inspection. No collision or police or insurance inspection has occurred.
