2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Recalls & Complaints

Incident: January 1, 2026 · Filed: January 2, 2026

My LC LC has 31k miles. This morning, I do what I always do when finishing an outing. Put the vehicle in park, turn it off, and get out. Today, the inside door handle would not let me out. It was like it was disconnected altogether. The door was unlocked. That being said, I unlocked and locked sever times. Still wouldn't let me out. I eventually put down the window, pulled once and twice on the outside door handle, wouldn't release, third time, released. Was told the electric pump housed within the transmission failed and is not sold separately so I need a whole new transmission. No ETA on when that may actually happen. When I shifted from Park into Reverse, Neutral and Drive and then back into Park I get a horrible screeching sound and was told that the truck is not safe to drive.

Distance between the road and the underside of the wheel arches in the rear differs by 1.25 inches. Rear sagging to the left. Left rear spring weaker than right rear. Accentuated body lean when taking a right hand turn. Same load over each wheel causes more compression on the left spring versus the right spring. Toyota states the right to left is equal...this is not case.

Brakes are extremely loud especially when backing up

Incident: January 3, 2025 · Filed: July 30, 2025

At startup in garage in subfreezing condition. I put vehicle in reverse and brakes did not engage at normal pedal pressure. I had to push the brakes with extreme force to slow down the backwards movement. I did not think I would be able to stop the car. I had driven the vehicle the night before in wintery conditions and parked in my detached unheated garage. I feel like there may have been ice build up on the brake pads/rotors. Has not happened again but I have not had the exact same conditions. Will note the engine was revving at a little higher rpm because it was very cold out and was at start-up (normal behavior) but created a bit more force in reverse. There would have been a collision if something were behind me, it took that long to stop.

Horrible squeaking when car is backing up in reverse

Incident: November 1, 2024 · Filed: April 28, 2025

I recently purchased a new 2024 Land Cruiser. After only 2 thousand miles, the majority of the trim on the passenger side melted and had to be replaced. I contacted my dealer that I purchased the car from as well as Toyota corporate. They have taken no action and have called it "solar convergence". In fact, the first Toyota dealer told me to "keep it out the sun". Can you believe the explanation and lack of responsibility! This is definitely a defect in the trim material and needs to be recalled. I have since paid and replaced most of the trim because I couldn't stand to look at it. Please review my complaint and help me get this corrected. I would be happy to send the defected trim pieces and my invoices to repair this mess. Thank you
