Defect description

Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain trailers of various models and model years. Click on "All Products Associated With This Recall" for a complete list. The tire certification labels applied to the vehicles may contain inaccurate tire sizing and/or inflation information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

Safety consequence

An owner or operator could rely on the inaccurate information in inflating the tires which could cause under or over inflation which, in turn, could lead to a tire failure or crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Heartland will notify owners, and dealers will send a replacement label with the correct information, free of charge. The recall began on September 29, 2015. Owners may contact Heartland customer service at 1-574-266-3988.

Defect description

Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain model year 2013 Bighorn Silverado, 2014 Bighorn and 2013-2014 Cyclone, and Landmark fifth wheel trailers equipped with certain Frigidaire KG-series microwaves, models CFMV152CLB and CFMV154CLS, manufactured January 27, 2013, through April 10, 2013 in the serial number range KG30607951 through KG31600670. In the affected vehicles, the microwave may start on its own and begin heating when unattended.

Safety consequence

If the microwave starts on its own and there are contents inside, a fire could result.

Manufacturer remedy

Heartland will notify owners and dealers will repair the membrane/keypad component, free of charge. The recall began in May 2014. Owners may contact Heartland at 1-877-262-8032. Heartland's number for this recall is 99-01-17. Note: Until the microwave has been repaired, owners should not store anything in the microwave while it is unattended.

Incorrect Certification Label/Part 567

Defect description

Heartland Recreational Vehicles is recalling certain model year 2013 Cyclone 3110 fifth wheel travel trailers manufactured May 14, 2012, through June 29, 2012. The vehicles were manufactured with incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) information printed on the Federal Certification Label. The actual Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is 16,000lbs but was listed as 18,000lbs on the label. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to Part 567, "Certification Regulation."

Safety consequence

Towing a vehicle loaded beyond the specified weight rating may result in a tire or suspension failure leading to poor vehicle handling and an increased risk of a crash.

Manufacturer remedy

Heartland will notify owners and will provide a replacement label, free of charge. The recall began on September 16, 2013. Owners may contact Heartland at 1-888-262-5992. Heartland's recall number is 99-01-14.

WE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF WE COULD GET AN ADJUSTMENT FOR BETTER TIRES. THEY TOTALLY REFUSED. OUR VEHICLE IS A 40 FOOT TOY HAULER. WE FOUND OUT THAT THE TIRES THE MANUFACTURER IS PUTTING ON THESE VEHICLES ARE BARELY ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THIS WEIGHT. THIS VEHICLE WHEN LOADED WITH PERSONAL ITEM, FOOD CLOTHING ETC AND A 4 WHEEL DRIVE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE FAR TOO HEAVY FOR THE MANUFACTURERS TIRES. WE WERE VERY LUCKY THAT WE DID NOT FLY OFF THE HIGHWAY IN A MOUNTAINOUS AREA. FORTUNATELY WE MADE IT HOME SAFE AND SOUND. WE HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE TIRES AT OUR OWN EXPENSE IN ORDER TO HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. WE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THE DOUBLE AXLE THAT WE HAVE IS NOT SUFFICIENT. IT HAS A TENDENCY TO SWAY WHEN TRAVELING. HOW CAN THIS MANUFACTURER SELL AN UNSAFE VEHICLE LIKE THIS? *TR
