Question 1

How many Harbinger models have NHTSA recalls?

Accepted Answer

try.vin lists 1 Harbinger models in its NHTSA recall directory. Click into any model to see its recall campaigns grouped by model year.

Question 2

Are Harbinger recall repairs free?

Accepted Answer

Usually. Federal law requires Harbinger to remedy a safety recall free of charge at an authorized Harbinger dealer, regardless of mileage or how many owners the vehicle has had. The exception is a vehicle first sold more than 15 years before the recall was issued (5 years for tires).

Question 3

How do I find out if my specific Harbinger has an open recall?

Accepted Answer

Enter its 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — NHTSA's VIN lookup shows whether that specific vehicle has an unrepaired recall. The model and model-year pages above list every campaign for the nameplate. New recalls can be issued at any time, so re-checking before a long trip or before buying a used Harbinger is a sensible habit.

Question 4

What should I do if my Harbinger is under a 'park it' advisory?

Accepted Answer

NHTSA issues a 'do not drive' or 'park outside' advisory when a defect poses an imminent safety risk (often airbag inflators or fire hazards). If your Harbinger is covered by one of these advisories, stop driving it, park it outside structures, and contact your nearest authorized Harbinger dealer to arrange a tow-in repair at no cost to you.
