Fire Extinguisher May Be Clogged or Inoperable

Defect description

DRV Suites (DRV) is recalling certain 2007-2018 Elite Suites, 2014-2018 Full House, 2003-2018 Mobile Suites, 2010-2018 Mobile Suite Estates, 2006-2012 Select Suite, 2013-2016 Tradition, and 2017 Travel Suites recreational vehicles, equipped with certain Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Safety consequence

In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Manufacturer remedy

DRV will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Unexpected Unfurling of the Awning

Defect description

DRV is recalling certain model year 2014 Tradition, Mobile Suite, Mobile Suite Select, and Elite Suite recreational vehicles and travel trailers manufactured December 10, 2012, through July 30, 2013. Due to a design change in the Dometic-brand power awning motor assembly, the motor assembly screws may unknowingly shear.

Safety consequence

If the motor assembly screws shear, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the vehicle is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

Manufacturer remedy

DRV will notify owners, and Dometic staff will replace the affected motor with one of a different design. The recall began on October 15, 2013. Owners may contact DRV at 1-260-562-1075 or Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

Incident: October 23, 2016 · Filed: October 25, 2016

THE BRAKE CALIPER ON RIGHT FRONT WHEEL FELL OFF AND JAMMED INSIDE THE ALUMINUM WHEEL RIM. ON EXAMINATION, BOTH BOLTS HOLDING THE CALIPER HAD FALLEN OUT. ALSO ONE BOLT ON LEFT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER HAD FALLEN OUT AND ONE BOLT ON LEFT REAR CALIPER WAS LOOSE. I WAS SOUTH-BOUND ON INTERSTATE 91 AT MILE 5 IN SPRINGFIELD, MA TRAVELING 45 MPH. WE STOPPED AND WAITED FOR MOBILE REPAIR TO ALLEVIATE ENOUGH OF THE DAMAGE TO ALLOW US TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THE SPENT THREE DAYS WAITING ON PARTS AND FINAL REPAIRS. THE RESULTING DAMAGE WAS DESTROYED CALIPER AND PADS ON RIGHT FRONT, DESTROYED CALIPER MOUNTING BRACKET ON RIGHT FRONT, DAMAGED RIM ON RIGHT FRONT, DAMAGED PADS ON LEFT FRONT. BOLTS USED TO SECURE THE CALIPER HAVE LOCTITE ON THREADS. ON REVIEW OF DRV OWNER FORUM I FOUND ANOTHER OWNER WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. COMPONENTS INVOLVED ARE ASSEMBLED AT DRV IN HOWE, IN AND INCLUDE KODAK CALIPER, BOLTED TO MORRYDE INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION, MOUNTED ON DEXTER 8000 LB AXLE.
