Question 1

How many model years of the New Flyer E40LFR have had recalls?

Accepted Answer

try.vin indexes 1 model year of the New Flyer E40LFR in the NHTSA recall database. Choose a year above to see every recall campaign issued for that specific model year, including the defect description, safety consequence, and the remedy New Flyer will perform.

Question 2

Is the New Flyer E40LFR a reliable vehicle?

Accepted Answer

A recall is not the same as a reliability problem — many popular vehicles on the road have multiple recalls because they sell in large volumes and defects eventually surface at scale. NHTSA recall counts should be read alongside owner complaints, crash-test ratings, and defect investigations, all of which are linked from each model year page.

Question 3

Are New Flyer E40LFR recall repairs free?

Accepted Answer

Usually. Federal law requires New Flyer to remedy recalls on the E40LFR free of charge at an authorized New Flyer dealer, whoever owns it now. The exceptions are vehicles first sold more than 15 years before the recall was issued and tires bought more than 5 years before it.

Question 4

Where can I check if my specific New Flyer E40LFR has an open recall?

Accepted Answer

Enter the 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — NHTSA's VIN lookup tells you whether your specific E40LFR has an unrepaired recall. The model-year pages below list every campaign for the New Flyer E40LFR.
