Incident: October 14, 2026 · Filed: October 30, 2026

My 2024 MINI Cooper S Convertible, with approximately 50,000 miles, experienced two intermittent failures to accelerate while traveling on a freeway at approximately 60 mph, around October 14 and October 21, 2026. During both incidents, the accelerator did not respond normally, and acceleration returned only after multiple attempts. During one incident I was in the fast lane; the vehicle slowed traffic behind me and other drivers honked. There was no crash, injury, or property damage. I took the vehicle to Weatherford BMW & MINI of Berkeley for an appointment on October 23, 2026. The dealer test drove the vehicle but could not reproduce the problem. The issue remains unresolved. The appointment email documents that while going roughly 60 mph the vehicle's acceleration cuts out and comes back on after a few attempts to accelerate. The failed component and cause are unknown. Warning lamps or messages are unknown.
